Instrumental Music at Doha College
Learning to play a musical instrument offers far more than the joy of making music. At Doha College, we recognise its profound impact on a pupil’s development—enhancing memory, coordination, discipline, and creativity. Music engages both the heart and mind, nurturing confidence and fostering a lifelong appreciation of the arts.
Pupils can achieve recognised qualifications through ABRSM and RSL Awards, which carry academic value for university applications and support those pursuing GCSE and A Level Music.
Our Instrumental Department provides exceptional opportunities for pupils to participate in recitals, concerts, and school-wide performances, allowing them to showcase their talents and celebrate their musical progress in front of a supportive community.
Led by an international team of passionate, highly qualified musicians, the department tailors each lesson to meet the pupil’s individual level, goals, and musical interests.
Lessons cover essential skills such as technique, sight reading, performance, and improvisation, all delivered in an engaging and encouraging environment.

New pupils begin with a free trial lesson, giving them the opportunity to explore their chosen instrument and assess suitability before committing to lessons. If another instrument is found to be more suitable, an alternative will be recommended by our specialist teachers.
While we generally recommend pupils to be in Year 3 or above before starting, we recognise that musical ability can emerge at any age.
The trial lesson allows every pupil the chance to discover their potential and start their musical journey with confidence.
Doha College pupils are experienced performers who have graced stages both locally and internationally.
They regularly earn recognition at prestigious events such as the COBIS International Music Festival, BSME Music Competition, Qatar School Choir of the Year, and the National Battle of the Bands.
Within the College, performance opportunities are plentiful — from winter concerts and summer recitals to talent shows, Spring Fayre, weekly assemblies, and a host of whole-school events. Each occasion builds confidence, stage presence, and a lifelong appreciation for the performing arts.
Instrumental lessons take place during the school day on a rotating timetable between 7:30 am and 3:00 pm.
Depending on each pupil’s age, ability, and goals, lessons may last 30, 45, or 60 minutes and can also be offered in small group settings, providing both flexibility and value.
