Pupil Leadership at Doha College
At Doha College, we place great emphasis on nurturing future leaders. Pupil leadership is a cornerstone of our holistic education, empowering pupils to take initiative, model integrity, and positively influence the world around them.
From Primary through to 6th Form, pupils are encouraged to develop leadership skills through meaningful opportunities across school life — whether as House Captains, Prefects, Eco Leaders, DEI Committee Members or 6th Form mentors.
These roles build confidence, foster teamwork, and support the development of a strong moral compass.
We believe that leadership is not about titles, but about character. By giving pupils a voice and the platform to lead, we nurture thoughtful, compassionate, and responsible young people who represent the best of our diverse, values-based community.
Pupil leaders at Doha College play an active role in shaping the culture and experience of the school.
Through their contributions, they support a culture of kindness, champion pupil wellbeing, and model the qualities celebrated in our Learner Profile: resilient, reflective, respectful, and ready to take on the world.
As a not-for-profit school, everything we do is centred on our pupils. Pupil Leadership is one way we prepare them not just for university and careers, but for life.
Doha College Model United Nations (DCMUN)
Model United Nations is a dynamic simulation of the UN that helps our pupils develop leadership, communication and negotiation skills, alongside a strong grasp of current affairs. As UN delegates, pupils research global issues, draft resolutions, speak publicly to defend their country’s position and build consensus.

What does that look like?

Primary Student Leadership at Doha College
At Doha College, we believe that leadership starts early. Our Primary pupils are actively encouraged to engage in school life from the perspective of service — offering their ideas, energy, and compassion to enrich the wider school community.
Through a range of structured roles and responsibilities, our Primary Leadership programme empowers pupils to develop confidence, resilience, empathy, and a strong sense of responsibility. These roles are more than titles; they are meaningful platforms for personal growth and contribution.
Each year, selected pupils take on leadership roles that include:
- The Big 4: Head Boy, Head Girl, and their Deputies
- School Councillors
- Prefects
- DC Lifestyles Representatives
- Eco Warriors
- iChild Ambassadors
- Charity Committee Representatives
- House Captains
Our Big 4 leaders proudly represent Doha College at school-wide events and functions, often delivering speeches and engaging with peers across all key stages. They serve as role models and act as a bridge between the pupil voice and school leadership.
Pupils in all roles are expected to lead with integrity and kindness.
They practise public speaking, teamwork, decision-making and mediation — skills that shape not just successful pupils, but future-ready global citizens.
Our Primary leadership framework is a vital part of our values-based education, rooted in care, courtesy, and the belief that every child can make a difference.

Secondary Pupil Leadership at Doha College
At Doha College, leadership is more than a title — it’s a commitment to serve, inspire, and lead by example. Our Secondary Leadership programme is a cornerstone of our values-based education, empowering pupils to grow as confident individuals and active global citizens.
At the forefront of this initiative are the Big 6 — Head Girl, Head Boy, their Deputies, and two Senior Prefects — who represent the voice of our pupil community. These exceptional individuals are selected through a rigorous application process, including written submissions and speeches to peers, reflecting our high expectations and belief in pupil agency.

The Big 6 play a vital role in shaping school culture.
Whether representing Doha College at public events, supporting cross-phase initiatives, or mentoring younger pupils, they are proud ambassadors of the College and role models to their peers. Their leadership journey is an invaluable experience that strengthens university applications and future aspirations.
Some of their key initiatives include:
- The Buddy Programme, pairing Year 7 pupils with Sixth Form mentors.
- The CCI Legacy Talks, where pupils of all ages are encouraged to share, inspire and lead.
- Enhancing collaboration between pupil-led committees for maximum impact.
Beyond the Big 6, a wide range of leadership opportunities are available through our pupil-led committees, including:
- Social Committee
- Charities Committee
- Student Council
- Communications Committee
- Ivybridge Committee
- Digital Leaders
- Environment Committee
- Well-being Committee
- Academic Support Committee
- Yearbook Committee
- Cultural Committee
These platforms enable pupils to engage meaningfully in school life, make their voices heard, and contribute to a vibrant, inclusive, and forward-thinking school culture.
