Beyond the Classroom

Academic excellence is just one part of the Sixth Form experience.

Our students take on leadership roles, participate in social action, mentor younger pupils, and engage in meaningful community and workplace connections. By the end of Key Stage 5, they leave Doha College as articulate, capable and confident individuals, fully prepared to pursue their goals on the global stage.

Enrichment

Apart from delivering a first-class academic education, we enrich our 6th Form pupils' learning and reasoning beyond the curriculum.

In addition to our extensive CCA programme, we provide enhanced enrichment opportunities that help develop and prepare our pupils as independent thinkers with the confidence to stand up for their beliefs and face the challenges of life with confidence:

EPQ Project

Pupils can participate in an Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) at the end of Year 12.

Pupils select a topic as their project beyond the curriculum. The project is worth Uniform Mark Scheme (UMS) marks equivalent to half an A Level. It is completed in the first term of Year 13 to support and complement a university application.

Mentoring
Through the mentoring scheme, 6th Formers have the opportunity to mentor pupils in our primary school and are paired with a class to assist the teacher on a weekly basis. They can also mentor lower secondary school pupils in different subjects.
Committees

6th Form pupils at Doha College enjoy an active, vocal, and influential role in school life; managing committees is just one facet. This involvement and responsibility help to develop positive attributes, such as decision-making, working with others, collaborative learning, peer support, and leadership skills.

Our committees include:

  • Charities Committee
  • Communications Committee
  • Environmental Committee
  • Ivybridge Committee
  • Social Committee
  • Graduation Committee
  • Digital Leaders Committee

Part of Doha College’s mission is to develop our pupils to make a lasting contribution to the global community.

Pupil leadership plays a pivotal role in nurturing the values, character, and qualities we expect of all our learners. The roles of Head Girl, Head Boy, their Deputies, and the Senior Prefects are of great significance — not only for the responsibilities they carry but also for the sense of pride and prestige they hold within our community. These individuals serve as leaders, role models, and ambassadors, upholding the highest expectations and embodying the values of Doha College.

"Leadership at Doha College exists at all levels – and is most visibly embodied in our 6th Form. Here, pupils truly understand the value of stewardship. Our 6th Formers are not only academic role models, but also compassionate, community-minded individuals who actively shape the culture of our school. Their motivation lies in making Doha College an inclusive, dynamic, and supportive environment for all – across both the Primary and Secondary schools."

Jerome Scafe
Senior Vice-Principal, Head of Secondary

Pupils are also encouraged to take on leadership through the House System as ambassadors and prefects, ensuring pupil voice remains active and visible throughout the College.
