Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) - Doha College

Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging (DEIB)

At Doha College, diversity is our strength and inclusion is our standard. We are committed to creating a culture where every individual feels seen, heard, and valued.

We actively work to eliminate bias and discrimination, promote equal opportunities, and build meaningful connections across our community. Whether pupil, parent, staff member or partner, every voice matters and every contribution is celebrated.

Our inclusive approach reflects the values that define Doha College – a community built on respect, fairness, and a deep commitment to helping every learner thrive.

We believe that every pupil, staff member and family enriches our school through their unique background, identity and perspective. We are proud to welcome a community representing over 80 nationalities and are committed to ensuring that every voice is heard, every individual is respected, and every learner feels a strong sense of belonging.

Our mission includes developing culturally responsive teaching practices that honour and reflect our diverse community.

We uphold a zero-indifference approach to any form of bullying, harassment, or victimisation and actively promote fairness, kindness and mutual respect.

Inclusion is not an initiative—it is embedded in every part of school life, from the classroom to the playground, from leadership to co-curricular activities. We strive to create a learning environment where all pupils can thrive, knowing they are genuinely valued and supported.

Together, we are building a community where everyone feels welcome.

DEI events at Doha College

Black History Month
Black History Month is more than a calendar event—it’s a meaningful celebration of identity, belonging, and shared humanity. Each October, our school community comes together to honour the rich heritage, achievements, and cultural contributions of Black individuals past and present.

This annual observance forms an integral part of our wider commitment to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging (DEIB), offering pupils opportunities to listen, learn and reflect. In previous years, we have hosted impactful events such as Afro Celebration Day and a South African Gumboot Dance workshop—a vibrant tradition rooted in the history of mine workers using rhythm and movement as a form of expression and resistance.

Activities like these spark conversation, deepen understanding, and promote cultural awareness among pupils of all ages. Black History Month at Doha College invites everyone in our diverse school community to explore stories of resilience, leadership, and excellence.

It helps us create a culture where every pupil feels seen, valued and inspired to be their authentic self.
International Day – Celebrating Culture and Belonging
At Doha College, International Day—celebrated as World Day for Cultural Diversity—is one of the most vibrant and anticipated events in the school calendar. Known warmly across our campus as Culture Day, it is a joyful celebration of the many nationalities, traditions, and heritages that make up our rich school community.

Pupils, staff, and parents come together to proudly share their culture through traditional dress, food, music, stories, and customs. The campus transforms into a colourful showcase of global identity, highlighting both the uniqueness of each culture and the unity that binds us all.

More than just a celebration, Culture Day is a powerful reminder of the values we hold dear at Doha College—respect, empathy, and global citizenship. It encourages every pupil to take pride in their identity while learning to appreciate the perspectives and experiences of others.

By nurturing this spirit of inclusion, Doha College continues to foster a culture where every individual feels seen, heard, and valued.
International Week for Persons with Disability and Neurodiversity

At Doha College, the International Week for Persons with Disability and Neurodiversity is a powerful reminder of our shared responsibility to build an inclusive and empathetic community.  This annual event shines a light on the importance of understanding, respect, and celebration of difference.

Throughout the week, pupils from across the school take part in engaging activities that deepen their awareness and appreciation of varying abilities. British Sign Language sessions introduce pupils to the beauty and importance of accessible communication, while the PE department leads inspiring Paralympic-style sports lessons. Pupils experience inclusive sports such as Goalball, Polybat, sitting volleyball, para-archery, boccia, and para-golf—allowing them to explore the creativity, skill, and determination behind adapted athletics.

These hands-on experiences create empathy, curiosity, and admiration among pupils, reinforcing the belief that diversity is a strength.
This week embodies Doha College’s ongoing commitment to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging (DEIB).

By encouraging pupils to see ability in every individual, we nurture a culture where everyone feels respected, supported, and valued.

International Women’s Day – Celebrating Empowerment and Equality
At Doha College, International Women’s Day is a powerful celebration of empowerment, unity, and equality. It is a time when our entire community—pupils, staff, and families—comes together to recognise and honour the remarkable contributions of women across all walks of life.

Through a week-long series of events and activities, Doha College shines a spotlight on the importance of gender equality and respect. From charity bake sales supporting Education Above All to heartfelt initiatives where pupils and staff write cards to the inspirational women in their lives, the week is filled with moments of reflection, gratitude, and shared pride.

Our younger pupils engage creatively by making purple handprints—a symbol of unity and inclusion—while older pupils lead thought-provoking assemblies through the empowHer club, a student-led initiative dedicated to advocacy and awareness around gender equity.

In addition, guest speakers and staff share their stories of perseverance and success, offering pupils inspiring perspectives on leadership, balance, and resilience.

International Women’s Day at Doha College is not only a celebration—it is an ongoing commitment to fostering a culture where every voice is heard, every achievement celebrated, and every pupil empowered to pursue their aspirations with confidence.
