Instrumental Music
Learning to play a musical instrument provides a wide range of benefits for your child. Beyond the enjoyment of creating music, research shows it stimulates cognitive development by activating the brain in multiple ways, fostering important skills such as discipline, concentration, and creativity. Additionally, learning an instrument can improve academic achievement, enhance self-esteem, and offer a powerful means of self-expression.
Qualifications can be obtained through ABRSM and RSL Awards, which not only hold significant value for university applications but also support students in GCSE and A Level Music.
Our Instrumental Department offers outstanding opportunities for students to take part in recitals, concerts, and school-wide events.
The department is staffed by highly skilled and passionate musicians, each an expert in their field with diverse international experience. They teach technique, skill development, music reading, and improvisation, customising lessons and repertoire to suit each student's individual level and aspirations.
At Doha College, we believe that learning a musical instrument unlocks a world of creativity and self-expression. It not only helps students become well-rounded young people, but also boosts academic performance by enhancing focus, discipline, and problem-solving abilities. Our dedicated team of instrumental staff are here to inspire and guide each pupil's musical journey, offering an exciting opportunity to explore their potential whilst helping them develop skills that will last a lifetime.

Doha College students are seasoned performers, familiar to the many international stages and here in Qatar. They consistently perform and receive recognition at events such as COBIS International Music Festival, BSME Music Competition, Qatar School Choir of the Year and National Battle of the Bands. Doha College organises regular opportunities to perform at its winter concerts, summer recitals, talent shows, the Spring Fayre, weekly assemblies and a wide range of whole school events.
Lessons take place during the school day on a revolving timetable between the hours of 7:30 and 3:00 pm.
Depending on the students' age, current level and targets, lessons can vary in duration from 30 to 45 or 60 minutes, or students can be taught in small groups, all of which adds to cost flexibility.
