Celebrating Excellence
Doha College Alumna Elected President of the Oxford Union
Doha College is delighted to celebrate an exceptional milestone achieved by one of our recent graduates. Arwa, alumna and former Head Girl from the Class of 2024, has been elected President of the Oxford Union, one of the world’s most distinguished debating societies and a historic platform for public dialogue, diplomacy and leadership.

For Doha College, this achievement is both a moment of great pride and a powerful reflection of our founding vision: For Pupils, Not for Profit.
Our role as a British international school in Qatar is to nurture aspirational, principled and globally minded young people. Arwa’s success stands as a testament to what is possible when a pupil’s potential is recognised, encouraged and strengthened through a rich and holistic education.
A Journey Shaped by Inquiry, Leadership and Purpose
Arwa’s journey at Doha College began long before her Sixth Form years. She was known by her teachers and peers as an inquisitive, thoughtful and determined pupil. Her academic performance, commitment to community activities and willingness to take on meaningful leadership roles led to her appointment as Head Girl, where she represented her peers, championed pupil voice and supported whole-school initiatives.
In many ways, Arwa’s years at Doha College provided the foundation for her path to the Oxford Union. The emphasis we place on critical thinking, confidence in communication, teamwork, global awareness and independent inquiry are all qualities central to the Oxford Union’s mission.
Her progression into such a prestigious leadership role demonstrates how these experiences endure long after pupils leave our classrooms.
A Source of Inspiration for the Doha College Community
For current pupils, Arwa’s achievement serves as a powerful reminder that ambition and courage can take them anywhere. For families considering Doha College, her story illustrates the transformative impact of high-quality teaching, a supportive community and opportunities that extend far beyond the classroom. For alumni, it reinforces the global reach and reputation of our community.
As a not-for-profit school reinvesting in educational excellence, we are proud to see how our ethos continues to shape future leaders who make their mark on the world.
Stay Connected with DC Alumni
Arwa’s story is one of many remarkable achievements within our alumni community. We invite former pupils, families and friends of the College to stay connected, share their journeys and celebrate the successes that inspire the next generation.
