University Destinations

Through a comprehensive PSHE programme, targeted workshops, and one-to-one sessions, we support our students throughout the university application process. The support ranges from researching university and career options to creating shortlists and writing personal statements, essays and CVs. The journey is assisted by our experienced 6th Form team, who provide advice and guidance, prepare references, transcripts, and more.

Doha College is a registered UCAS Centre, and all UK applications are submitted to universities via the school, following a comprehensive quality-checking process.

Navigating the world of university admissions is becoming an increasingly complicated process that requires careful research and planning. At Doha College, we support and guide our students and empower them to make confident decisions and successful applications.

Certain university courses, such as medicine and veterinary medicine, require students to have accumulated work experience before making their applications. This is in order to ensure that they have a full understanding of the demands of the role and the course, and to ensure that it is the right path for them. From the highly successful Year 10 Take Your Child to Work Day, to our partnership with Hamad Hospital, we support students in identifying and securing work experience opportunities and provide practical advice, such as CV writing and interview support and preparation.

Work Experience

Doha College regularly hosts visiting scholars, who hold seminars and workshops with aspiring students. Some recent such events were visits from artist Rob Pointon, professional artist and member of many fine arts institutes, Anthony Grayling, Professor of Philosophy at the University of London, and an engaging Skype lecture from Dr Sylvia Maier, Clinical Associate Professor at the NYU School of Professional Studies.

Taster Lectures and Seminars

A regular occurrence throughout the Doha College calendar, university representatives visit Doha College and speak to students and parents about the courses on offer at their institution. With COVID travelling restrictions currently in place, the fairs and tours have moved online for now, but the exchange of information is just as effervescent.

Our team also assists with navigating the administrative part of the process. One of the platforms used is Unifrog, a system that enables university applicants to submit and manage their applications.

The extensive extracurricular activities and leadership opportunities offered at Doha College provide students with a range of valuable transferrable skills, which are highly sought after by potential universities and employers. Some of the most popular are the Medical Conference, the Model United Nations and the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award, in addition to the student leadership positions of Head Boy, Head Girl, their deputies and senior prefects.
