The mock exam results serve as an indicator of the results they can expect when they sit the final exams, and it's also a chance for additional revision.
Today a select group of our Year 11s were highlighted as having achieved the highest marks possible in their mock exams, ten students from Year 11 achieved 9 or more A/A* grades in their mock papers and were rewarded certificates by the principal Dr Steffen Sommer.
Head of Year 11 teacher, Mrs Sara James explained, "These results place our students in a fantastic position for their actual GCSEs in June. I am incredibly proud of them, and they are great ambassadors for Year 11."
We spoke to four students for their reaction to these results.
"I am really happy with my results as I revised a lot," explained Shamilah Salim also manages to balance work with lots of exercise. Shamilah is a very keen runner and runs six days a week competing regularly in sporting events across Doha.
Another keen and accomplished sportswoman is Qurratu Hashim from Malaysia who holds a brown belt dan 3 in Shotokan karate. Qurratu was delighted with her results especially Geography as this is her favourite subject, "my teacher makes the subject so interesting, he is very enthusiastic and this inspires me to work hard" she commented.
Qatari student Fahad Ali has been studying at Doha College for nine years and he too is inspired by his teacher. This time his favourite subject is History and his favourite historical character is Stalin, as he admires his socialist principles.
Finally, we spoke with Tareq Sehly a keen debater who hopes to become a doctor. "My favourite subject is biology," explained Tareq, "I really enjoy the Biology practical's and understanding more about our bodies." This will certainly be very useful for his chosen career.
Summing up Mrs Jennifer Stokes, Head of Key Stage 4 said, "these students have worked incredibly hard, I am very proud of them and they deserve excellent results in their GCSEs later this year."
