40th Anniversary

Doha College marked its 40-year anniversary in 2020. It has come a long way through the decades - from a DC of 85 students and Doha Independent School, a small Primary, to a large, highly successful, British international institution with over 2,000 students of 80 nationalities.

The launch of the 40th anniversary was officiated by the Doha College Principal Dr Sommer in January 2020, with the release of our 40th-Anniversary logo, and marked with the wider community and the media. Madame Mechmech, our longest standing member of staff, had her contribution recognised in the ceremony.

The yearbooks produced over the years now take up a full shelf. Turning their pages, you get transported into the spring fayres, winter pantomimes, proms, talent shows, and of course the seated formals of teachers and students, who have gone through a number of uniform designs - and hair styles - through the decades.

As part of the 40th anniversary celebrations, Doha College chose a sporting mascot for the first time in its history. Primary and Secondary students submitted many original creations, and the winning falcon was enhanced with elements selected from across the hundreds of entries.

Now that Doha College has earned its place in history, it deserved an anthem. Ms Steph Gomaa, Director of Music, composed a rousing melody, and the lyrics - written by an entire team - include a reference to the falcon, now a symbol of Doha College and also an icon of our host country.
