Well-Being, Support and Guidance for Our Community

Dear Parents,

In light of the current developments affecting Qatar and the wider region, we recognise that many of our pupils may have questions, worries, or heightened emotions.

Children process world events in very different ways depending on their age and stage of development, and we appreciate that, as parents, we don’t always know how best to respond in unprecedented situations such as these.

To support, we will be sharing resources for parents and pupils on how to navigate these difficult situations. We will provide guidance on how to tackle conversations, deal with changing emotions and feelings, and cope with change and uncertainty.

Children across the school will have different responses to the current situation. Some will be acutely aware of what is going on and will independently access information via news channels and social media outlets; others will get information through friends and family; and others will be sheltered from much of what is happening. For any parents seeking additional support on how best to respond to questions from their children at this time, please see the resources below that we hope will provide guidance.

Our pastoral teams are monitoring pupils’ well-being as closely as possible, and we are providing age-appropriate opportunities for discussion during remote learning where needed. If you have specific concerns about your child or feel they would benefit from additional emotional support, do not hesitate to contact your child’s class teacher, Form Tutor, Head of Year, Assistant Head teacher or any member of our safeguarding team.
