Doha College welcomes new Principal David Tongue

We are delighted to share that, following a highly competitive and rigorous recruitment process for our new Principal, we will welcome David Tongue to Doha College in August 2023 to take up the position.

David, currently the Principal at St George’s British International School Rome - one of the most established and successful not-for-profit British international schools in Europe - will bring a wealth of experience that fits well with the standing of Doha College. During the interview and selection process, David demonstrated a deep knowledge base on the latest trends in the education sector, empathy and tact in dealing with difficult situations, and a passion for learning.

His time in Italy has seen the school achieve its best-ever academic results and its highest-ever pupil roll. Prior to this, he was a Founding Headmaster for Brighton College International Schools, where he led the start-up, growth and development of two overseas campuses of the UK independent school - one in Bangkok, Thailand and one in Al Ain, UAE. Both schools have grown rapidly and developed strong reputations for delivering a world-class and highly innovative education. David is a former school inspector, a Non-Executive Director of the Council of British International Schools (COBIS) and an active member of the International Division of the HMC, where he sits on the Academic Policy Committee.

I am delighted and honoured to have been appointed as Principal of Doha College, one of the leading British international schools in the world. I very much enjoyed meeting members of the school’s warm and diverse community during the recruitment process. I cannot wait to start working in partnership with the team to lead the school through the next stages of its development during this hugely exciting period for both the school and the country. It is abundantly clear to me that Doha College is not only a wonderful place for children to learn and grow holistically but also a school with the potential to improve education within and beyond the region.

David Tongue

We wish David every success in the new role and we look forward to welcoming him to Doha College in August next year.
