Head of DC Secondary Appointed as Principal of BSA

Today, Doha College announces the exciting career progression of Ruth Sanderson, their Senior Vice Principal – Head of Secondary. Ruth has been appointed as Principal at The British School of Amsterdam ( The BSA) from August 2022, a high-profile co-educational, not-for-profit COBIS and BSO school for students aged 3 to 18.

I am delighted to be joining the British School of Amsterdam as Principal in August 2022. I want to thank the whole Doha College community for their support over the past four years. As a school leader, it has been a privilege to have such an amazing opportunity to lead the Secondary through a period of monumental change, with the school growing substantially, moving to a new campus, restructuring systems, and navigating the COVID-19 crisis, including the unprecedented cancellation of examinations. People are the most important thing in any school, and it has been an honour to serve those at Doha College. My family and I were warmly welcomed when we arrived, and my son and daughter had positive experiences completing their Secondary education here, graduating in 2020 and 2021 respectively.  Doha College and Qatar will always hold a special place in my heart, and I look forward to equally warm farewells over the coming months.Ruth Sanderson, Senior Vice Principal - Head of Secondary

Arriving at Doha College in 2018 from the reputable Seoul Foreign School in South Korea, Ruth has expertly led during a period of immense challenge and notable change for Doha College, when we needed agile vision, leadership and passion.

The search for a suitable successor for the position of Senior Vice Principal - Head of Secondary at Doha College will start immediately. In light of the international standing of Doha College as a High-Performance-Learning school within COBIS, BSME and HMC, it is confident that the position will attract a very strong field when it goes to the international market.

While I am deeply saddened that she will be leaving us, I am delighted for her, too, for it is the natural next step in her career. Given that The BSA is one of the top-flight British schools in Northern Europe, her appointment is a great personal achievement, and reflects highly on the quality of Doha College and its people.

We wish Mrs Sanderson, and her husband Paul, all the very best for their new lives in The Netherlands.
