Doha College success at BSME Primary Creative Writing Competition

MES Cairo's Primary Student Council teamed up with British Schools in the Middle East (BSME) to facilitate and adjudicate the yearly Primary Creative Writing Event. First launched in 2017, this event is part of the BSME Primary Writing Competition and aims to allow students from BSME member schools to showcase their creativity. This year marked the inaugural participation of Doha College Primary, and our students achieved outstanding success as they showcased their exemplary creativity and writing skills!

Exceptional quality entries from our students

The competition was first launched to Doha College students - from Years 1 to 6 - during Book Week, which resulted in 150 exceptional quality entries. Following a rigorous reading and selection process, three entries were selected and entered the competition:

  • Key Stage 1 Entry - Alexandra M. from 2 Purple

  • Lower Key Stage 2 Entry - Khayra K. from 3 Purple

  • Upper Key Stage 2 Entry - Jaya L. from 6 Blue

After three weeks, the winning entries were announced; we are thrilled that Alexandra M.'s (2  Purple) short story about the importance of overcoming fears was selected as the winning entry for Key Stage 1!

Alexandra met with Mr Tongue, Miss Choudry (Head of English - Key Stage 2), and Mr Stringer (Head of English - EYFS and Key Stage 1) to commemorate this truly remarkable achievement.

Congratulations Alexandra!

To honour the writing accomplishments of all our students at Doha College, Mr Stringer conducted an assembly where certificates were presented to every participant in the competition. We were also privileged to listen to Khayra and Jaya, our runners-up, as they read aloud the opening paragraphs of their exquisite writing compositions.
