Doha College Pupils Driving Change and Empower Communities Beyond Borders.
At Doha College, our pupils demonstrated exceptional character and global citizenship through their involvement in the Pass Down Project—a collaborative CCA in partnership with URJA Energy, a charity founded by Raka Singh in Uttar Pradesh, India.
As part of the project, Ms Thakur, Head of Sociology at Doha College, who actively volunteers with the charity, helped establish a youth centre for girls attending sewing schools. This centre provides a vital space for learning essential life skills, especially for those who have faced challenges like dropping out of school or early marriage. The youth centre aims to empower these girls with knowledge and opportunities they otherwise wouldn’t have.
Doha College pupils rose to the occasion by designing a wide range of engaging and impactful lessons for the youth centre, set to open in February. They created modules on first aid, nutrition, exercise, basic science experiments, and even crafts such as jewellery-making from recycled materials, drawing, origami, and baking. These thoughtful and resourceful lesson plans reflect not only their academic strengths but also their empathy, teamwork, and dedication to making a meaningful difference in the lives of others. The Pass Down Project exemplifies the values of Doha College—integrity, compassion, and a commitment to excellence. It highlights how our pupils are learners and leaders, driven by a sense of responsibility to create a better world. Their work in this initiative reinforces the college’s ethos of nurturing globally aware and socially responsible individuals.
