Doha College Opens New Sensory Room – A Sanctuary of Calm and Inclusion, Made Possible by Engr. Hamad Bin Abdullah Al Attiyah

In another shining example of our commitment to holistic education, Doha College has officially opened a brand-new Sensory Room, designed to nurture emotional well-being, enhance focus, and support inclusive learning across both Primary and Secondary schools.

This serene, purpose-built space is more than a quiet retreat—it's a powerful educational resource that supports students with autism, ADHD, and sensory processing needs, while also offering a peaceful environment for any pupil or staff member in need of a moment to reset. From calming lights and tactile zones to gentle soundscapes, the room offers a multi-sensory experience designed to help individuals regulate their emotions and improve learning readiness.

The Sensory Room was made possible thanks to the extraordinary generosity of Engr. Hamad Bin Abdullah Al Attiyah, a Doha College parent and a steadfast advocate for the transformative power of education. His belief in creating nurturing spaces for all learners is deeply aligned with the Doha College ethos: education for a better world.

Every child deserves a space where they feel calm, safe, and supported,” said Engr. Al Attiyah. “May this donation help support that vision and create a space for every child to thrive, reflect, and grow — because every mind matters.

This latest act of philanthropy follows Mr Al Attiyah’s previous gift to the College: the beloved Al Attiyah Adventure Playpark, which has become a vibrant hub of physical activity, imaginative play, and whole-child development for our Primary students. Together, these contributions have made a lasting impact on the daily lives of students and staff, shaping an environment where well-being and academic excellence go hand in hand.

We are truly privileged to have Mr Al Attiyah’s continued support. His generosity reflects the best of the Qatari spirit of giving. The Sensory Room will provide vital moments of calm and care for so many pupils across the College, enabling them to stay engaged, supported, and ready to learn. This resource will significantly enhance both our pastoral care and our teaching impact.David Lish, Chief Operating Officer at Doha College

The Sensory Room forms part of Doha College’s wider commitment to mental health, inclusive education, and well-being for all. It will serve a wide range of needs: supporting younger students as they develop emotional regulation, offering older students a space to decompress, and providing staff a restorative place to recharge.

The Sensory Room isn’t just an addition—it’s a symbol of who we are. It speaks to our values of empathy, inclusion, and the importance of nurturing every individual in our community. This space will have a profound and lasting effect on the well-being of everyone who uses it.

With this exciting new facility, Doha College continues to set the standard for outstanding British education in Qatar, blending academic rigour with compassion, innovation, and a strong sense of community. The Sensory Room not only enhances the physical infrastructure of the school but also deepens its culture of care, where emotional well-being is prioritised alongside academic achievement. As a not-for-profit institution, every investment made is thoughtfully channelled into the development of its learners, and this donation exemplifies the power of community partnerships to transform lives.

Through the generous support of Engr. Hamad Bin Abdullah Al Attiyah, and the vision of the school’s leadership, Doha College is building more than just classrooms—it is building a legacy of empathy, resilience, and inclusive excellence that will benefit generations of students to come.
