Meet Aleeza Ahsun, Doha College student in Year 9 (that’s only 13 years of age) and talented artist who had her work recently recognised in a very public way! She submitted a very original piece of art to the national schools art competition launched by the Qatar British Business Forum, who put it out to the young community to create the cover of their upcoming business directory.
The success criteria was to celebrate the relationship between Qatar and Britain, and her piece surely does that. QBBF received around 100 entries and excellent design quality, making it quite difficult for the committee to choose their winner.
Several Doha College students made it to the shortlist, and we were delighted to learn that Aleeza was a runner up, meaning that her artwork will be featured in the QBBF Directory 2021. To celebrate the young artists’ success, the British Embassy hosted an afternoon tea for the winners and their parents, alongside British Ambassador H.E. Jon Wilks and also Emad Turkman, MBE Chairman of the QBBF.
Here is Aleeza and her parents enjoying the afternoon at the British Embassy.
Miss Tamburrini, Aleeza’s art teacher, commented on the originality of Aleeza’s design and the effective way in which the various architectural elements were composed.
A shoutout to our other shortlisted students, namely Aamna Zahid and Reja Fatima Bilal, both in Year 8, who created the beautiful pieces below.
