Doha College Awards Ceremony 2024
Doha College recently held its annual Award Ceremony to celebrate the outstanding achievements of its students. The event recognised various categories, including subject awards for each year group, school values awards for students who demonstrated diligence, integrity, perseverance, and respect, as well as awards for outstanding work with the Doha College Model United Nations, student leadership, charitable causes, and more.
Attended by proud parents, staff, and governors, the ceremony was elevated by the inclusion of instrumental music and drama segments, performed by talented Doha College students. Pictured above is Tunu Ng'eno (Year 11), who delighted the audience as Titania from Shakespeare's "A Midsummer Night's Dream."
In an impressive display of determination and diligent work, Myesha Shaikh (Year 9) and Aamna Zahid (Year 11) earned three subject awards each. Myesha was honoured for her exceptional work in art, mathematics, and Qatar history, while Aamna was recognised for geography, Islamic studies, and physics.
The Council of British International Schools granted student achievement awards to three Doha College pupils: Prabhav Srivastava (pictured above) for "Outstanding effort", Saoirse Burness and Aleeza Ahmed, both for "Commitment to a charitable cause". This brought Prabhav's awards count to three, as he was also recognised for his integrity and musical performance.
A highlight of the ceremony was the announcement of next year’s student leadership team, including the new head boy, head girl, deputy head boy, head girl, and senior prefects, affectionately known as the “Big Six.” They will work alongside numerous committees to enhance the student experience at Doha College. Welcome Rohan, Salma, Gabby, Dare, Twisha and Karan!
Our annual awards ceremony is a fantastic way of recognising outstanding attitude to learning, alignment and embodiment of our school values, as well as outstanding academic achievement. Well done to all the award winners. We look forward to more and more students being recognised for their brilliance inside and outside of the classroom next year.
Jerome Scafe, Head of Secondary
I really enjoyed attending the annual rewards ceremonies - my first opportunity to do this during my time in the College. The students showcased were really exceptional and it is very humbling to reflect on how much talent and commitment exists within the College.
