Aspire Psychology Conference

The ASPIRE Psychology Conference is the first event of its kind in Qatar. It is a two-day event organised and run by Martyn Stewart, Head of the Psychology department at Doha College.  Designed to bring together students, teachers and psychology professionals, the event incorporates professional development training and student workshops on day one; and culminates with the ASPIRE Conference itself on day two. The main event is a day of engaging and informative talks, seminars and Q and A sessions with experts in the field of psychology including cognitive psychology, social psychology, mental health and treatments as well as biology, neuroscience, sociology and disorders such as schizophrenia and psychopathy.

Dr. Phillip Zimbardo

Keynote speaker, 2017

Dr. Zimbardo is an internationally recognised scholar, educator, researcher and media personality. He has won numerous awards and honors in each of thee domains. He was a psychology professor at Stanford University for over 40 years, having previously taught at Yale, NYU and Columbia.

Dr. Zimbardo's career is noted for many endeavours, including his research into shyness, time perspective and why boys are failing academically and socially. However, his most recognisable work is the famous Stanford Prison Experiment study. He was involved with the popular television series 'Discovering Psychology' and has written numerous academic books amongst his 300 publications. He was recently the president of the American Psychology Association and is recognised as one of the worlds most motivational and well-known speakers in psychology.

Prof. James Fallon

Keynote speaker, 2018

James H. Fallon, Ph.D. is a Professor of Psychiatry and Human Behaviour at the University of California, Irvine. He sits on numerous corporate boards and national think tanks for science, biotechnology and the military; and is also a subject matter expert to the Pentagon in the field of cognition and war. He is a renowned international speaker with a one of a kind story into the field of Neuroscience and Psychopathy.

Backed up with a solid foundation of research including chemical neuroanatomy and circuitry, higher brain functions and brain imaging, depression, schizophrenia, addiction, personality, intelligence, emotional memory, psychopathy, violence and dictatorships, Prof. Fallon has written over 300 papers and books, including an Amazon best-seller “The Psychopath Inside”. He has appeared in hundreds of international TV and radio specials on war, dictatorships, violence and psychopathic behaviour including the popular TV show Criminal Minds.
