Doha College - Year 10 Work Experience Week 2026

Real workplaces. Real skills. Real futures.

From 17–21 May 2026, all Year 10 pupils at Doha College will take part in our first Work Experience Week – a dedicated opportunity to step beyond the classroom and explore the world of work in real professional environments. This programme is designed to help pupils connect their learning with life beyond school, building the confidence, skills and insight they need as they start to think about future pathways.

What is Work Experience?

Work experience gives pupils the chance to spend a full week in a real workplace, observing and supporting professionals in a field that interests them.

Throughout the week, pupils will:

  • Experience day-to-day life in a professional environment

  • Observe how teams work and how decisions are made

  • Assist with appropriate tasks under supervision

  • Reflect on what they enjoy and where their strengths lie

The aim is to develop essential employability skills such as:

  • Communication and interpersonal skills

  • Teamwork and collaboration

  • Time management and reliability

  • Personal responsibility and independence

Why Are We Introducing Work Experience?

At Doha College, we are committed to creating outstanding futures for our pupils. Work Experience Week is a key part of this journey, helping Year 10 pupils to:

  • Gain first-hand insight into professional workplaces

  • Explore possible future careers and pathways

  • Build independence, resilience and self-confidence

  • Strengthen skills that will support future university and job applications

This initiative is an important step in supporting Year 10 as they begin to make informed choices about their futures.

Key Dates

  1. Work Experience Week:
    Sunday 17 – Thursday 21 May 2026

  2. Parent Information Morning:
    Monday 8 December 2025

How Will Work Experience Week Operate?

All Year 10 pupils are expected to take part in Work Experience Week.

We strongly encourage pupils to take ownership of this process and secure a placement that truly interests them.

Pupil and parent responsibilities:

  • Pupils are encouraged to identify sectors, roles or organisations that align with their interests

  • Parents are asked to support their child in researching and contacting potential employers as early as possible

  • If a pupil is unable to secure a placement, they must inform their Form Tutor as soon as possible so that we can explore assistance and alternative options

During Work Experience Week:

  • There will be no scheduled lessons for Year 10

  • Pupils will be off campus for the duration of the week, attending their work placements
