Key stage 4

Key Stage 4 is the continuation from KS 3, where pupils will have already decided which subjects they want to continue onto GCSE, learning the skills and academics required as the foundation to their higher education.  As they move into Post 16 they will refine these subject further, with the outcome of the two years hard work in Key Stage 4 often determining these choices.  Key Stage 4 not only gives students the opportunity to excel in the classroom, but also take advantage of the additional activities the school begins to offer.  The International Award for example begins in Year 10, with pupils achieving the Bronze award, and many moving on to achieve their silver award in Yr 11.  Other activities such as the Model United Nations also begins within Key Stage 4.  The Key Stage 4 handbook is designed to help answer some of the questions both students and parents have, and to act as a guide to life with in the Key Stage.  If at any time there are any concerns regarding this area please use the useful contacts links

What  the pupils say…..

•    This year has been very hard work. I was more organized, focused and attentive than last year.  I have had to learn to manage my time to ensure I completed coursework.

•    Key stage 4 is harder than Key stage 3.  I have had to concentrate harder.  As I am taking IGSCE math in Yr10 I am more stressed.

•    You have to be a role model the Years 7, 8 & 9, therefore having to set a good example for the years below

•    Key Stage 4 requires you to be on top of your game.

•    The years spent are interesting and at times exciting.  Basically what you put in is what you get out…and then more.

•    In Key stage 4 you have to think for yourself more.  Being older you are trusted with more responsibilities.
