Student Development

Student Development is given a high priority at the College. Key Stage Leaders and Deputies are responsible for the co-ordination of pastoral and academic work.

School Prefects
As part of our commitment to prepare young people for the world of work we develop leadership skills through the prefect system.

A team of prefects carries out a number of very important duties to help ensure the smooth running of the school day. Some of them serve on the Post-16 Committee, together with a member of staff, and work to promote developments in the senior section of the school. In Primary and Secondary there is a School Council, which comprises of elected representatives from each class or year group. The whole team in Secondary is led by a Head Girl and a Head Boy elected from amongst the Year 13 students.

Form Tutors and class teachers in Primary are responsible, in the first instance, for the welfare, progress and behaviour of the students in their form. The Form Tutor in Secondary has daily contact with the form at registration, and any problems can be discussed then. Form Tutors and class teachers can get to know the students in their care very well and ensure that a caring atmosphere exists throughout the College at all times.

Assemblies are a regular feature of both Primary and Secondary and are held on a regular basis, supplemented by House assemblies and whole College assemblies at key times of the year.
