Course Synopsis:
The BTEC National Award in Music
Practice (Performing) is a practical course which offers the opportunity
to specialize in music practice on your chosen instrument or voice. It
aims to develop your skills in performing, communicating, creativity,
working wi
th others, self evaluation and critical thinking, ICT/ music
technology and improving your self-study skills. You learn by completing
projects and assignments which incorporate a wide variety of learning
styles and musical genres. A BTEC National Award is equivalent to one A
level with the following UCAS tariff points:
Distinction = 120, Merit = 80, Pass = 40
The course is made up of six units – two core units, which everyone
takes and four specialist units.

Units 4 and 5b – Core Units Music Performance Process and Music Performance Project (Externally assessed) Both units are presented as part of the Final Major Project in which you are required to produce a musical demonstration in front of an audience. |

Entry Requirements: It is not necessary to have gained an award at GCSE Music in order to complete this course although it is recommended that you have achieved at least 4 GCSE’s at Grades A* - C and have the ability to perform vocally or instrumentally |

Assessment Summary
All units are assessed and graded and an overall grade for the qualification is awarded at Pass, Merit or Distinction level.
