Course Synopsis:
Geography offers the opportunity to
study a broad spectrum of topics from learning about the most powerful
forces on earth to the economic struggles of countries. The world we
live in is likely to change more in the next 50 years than it has ever
done before. Geography explains why this is and helps to prepare you for
those changes.
Geography tackles the big issues such as environmental responsibility,
natural hazards, LEDC and MEDC economies and global interdependence. It
teaches this through debates, film, games, fieldwork and independent
research.
By studying Geography you will develop a range of skills and knowledge
base that is highly valued by universities and employers. The
transferable skills which Geography fosters are an asset in the complex
world of employment today.
As Geography teaches you a wide range of skills it enables you to keep
your options open, as it is useful for a very wide range of exciting
jobs. Jobs include meteorology, architecture, tourism, management and
administration, the financial sector, retail and media etc.

Year 12 students will have the opportunity to take part in a 6 day
residential fieldtrip to either the UK or Cyprus.
