Message from the Head of 6th Form

In the 21st century, it will be crucial for our students to develop a capacity to go on learning throughout their lives. Here at the Doha College, our commitment is to both raise educational standards and to create an environment where every student can enjoy learning and achieve their potential. We believe that all our students are capable of attaining high standards and should leave school with the knowledge, qualifications and life skills that enable them to play their full part in society.

Every student who attends Doha College experiences an environment which is safe and conducive to learning, where they enjoy being taught and the quality of teaching is excellent. Our students are highly motivated, self disciplined, respectful and caring of others. They also frequently take the initiative and extend their learning beyond what is taught in the classroom. In this way they are model students within the community.

Our system is designed to give students friendly support and professional guidance throughout their time here. They get to know their personal tutor in the first few days and become a member of a tutor group which meets regularly. Here they will make new friends and explore all kinds of topics such as personal career ambitions, health matters, study skills and current world issues. Each term we arrange for students to talk about their progress, first with their subject teachers and then with their tutor. In this way, their tutor comes to know them better and is well placed to give advice on study or personal problems should they arise.

This year we have appointed Mr Joshua Brooks who is a Careers and University Guidance Counsellor. He will be available to support students through the next stage of their educational career. Mr Brooks, as well as making individual appointments, has arranged a series of twilight sessions to support this process. Students are encouraged to attend these sessions; parents are also invited to attend. Details and dates can be found on the Careers page of the E-learning platform.

I look forward to another successful year the 6th form marked by the high aspirations of our students and the celebration of individual as well as collective achievement.

Mr. Douglas Briggs
