Introduction

For those students who are not doing sailing as their adventurous journey as sailing then the school will be organising an expedition to Bir Zekreet. An expedition to this part of Qatar offers the following:

The opportunity to be self sufficient, though water will be provided along the route.

The opportunity to navigate using a map and compass

The opportunity to plan a journey using on a route card having been given a limited amount of information

The opportunity to cover 40km over 2 days

The opportunity to camp in remote and sometimes challenging conditions

Itinerary


Day 1:-

Leave school at 7.00am and travel to Bir Zekreet town.

Get dropped off at one of several points

Travel in a general Northly direction for about 20km including passing through a check point

Camp close to the beach

Be involved in a beach clean up campaign

 

Day 2:-

After breakfast break camp

Head back to Bir Zekreet town via a different route to that taken the previous day

Get bus back to school arriving back at about 4.00pm

The trip would take place on a Wednesday and Thursday in February.

 

 Signing off

In order to have your log book signed off you will have needed to:

. Undergone school based training
. Attended a training expedition
. Completed the full expedition
. Completed a report about your journey.
