Sixth Form life at Doha College is highly rewarding and enjoyable but each individual needs to be dedicated, motivated and self-disciplined to ensure success in the Sixth Form and beyond. Students should first be aware that there is a big jump from GCSE to A Level. This is epitomised by the required independent approach to academic work, which provides vital experience for university and life after Doha College. The College has a wide range of A Level subjects, which enable students to pursue individual interests and goals. Therefore, it is essential for students to select the subjects which they enjoy and that reflect their ability. This will ensure commitment throughout the course.

Away from the academic world of Doha College, Sixth Form provides numerous opportunities for students to get involved in various committees, thus becoming an integral part of the College community. Presented with the chance to take on responsibilities such as Prefects, Charity/Social/Information/Common-Room Committee members and Student Council Representatives, Sixth Formers are able to develop communication and leadership skills, preparing themselves for the future. This year Ms. Cortazzi is co-running the council with Bashar, making it more influential and official. The College also places great emphasis on charity work, a committee is selected and run by Sixth Form students. Each year large sums are raised for the nominated charities (in the first term alone we have collected over 7,000 QAR), through activities ranging from social events to bake sales, with the highlights so far being the Pink Day and Staff vs. Students sports fixtures.

As members of the Sixth Form, students are respected role models for the lower years and are considered to be mature and responsible, conducting themselves as young adults around the College site. Through these roles, the Sixth Form students not only become directly involved in the framework of the College, but also gain enormous satisfaction and personal reward.

However, we believe that the key to success at Sixth Form is simple – work hard and play hard. All students are encouraged to make the most of their own potential in academic, personal and social terms. Alongside the taught curriculum, there are many opportunities for Sixth Formers to represent the College in numerous activities such as sports teams, music ensembles and drama productions, and various extra-curricular activities provide students to further their hobbies and interests.

We hope that you will make use of all the opportunities which are on offer, and enjoy your Sixth Form experience!
