House & Reward System
Houses
In both primary and secondary, students are assigned to one of six houses:
Dragon |
Griffin |
Phoenix |
Roc |
Salamander |
Unicorn |
House events include a swimming gala, sports day, and music competitions. Inter-house competitions are held regularly during the term. Students are encouraged to be good team players as well and to support each other.
In the primary school, house competitions are held half termly and include a central theme such as poetry writing or uniform design. Pupils work together as part of these teams to participate in music and sports competitions.
Considerable emphasis is placed on mutual respect between staff and students, the development of self-discipline, consideration for others, and a sense of responsibility towards the community.
Rewards
In the secondary school, house points are available for exceptional effort in any subject and any student who earns 10 house points is awarded a Certificate of Merit at an assembly.
However, it is not only academic success that is recognised; sporting achievement, effort, attendance and good progress are also rewarded. Each year a formal ceremony is held where prizes and certificates are awarded.
In the primary school we have an individual house merit system where pupils can achieve a number of certificates which reflect both their academic and pastoral achievements. These certificatcs arc awarded to pupils at weekly assemblies where their achievements are celebrated.
Each Key Stage holds a monthly celebration assembly where pupils are recognised for a variety of activities which cover academic and pastoral success.
