ART DEPARTMENT
At Doha College we see Art education as a multi-faceted area of human interest and enquiry, encompassing all forms of visual communication. We are keen to establish a broad range of working practices which currently include drawing, painting, mixed-media, sculpture, digital photography and digital video work. We encourage students to explore a range of ideas and materials with a clear focus on skills acquisition.
BUSINESS STUDIES DEPARTMENT
The Business Studies department cares and values all students and we are committed to continually improving the educational experience offered to them.
Our aims are to help all students reach their potential and equip with the means to be ready for university and/or employment in a rapidly changing environment.
Design & Technology Department
Design and Technology is an ever changing subject in the face of education. The philosophy we endeavour to work by is one if individuality, creativity and responsibility for the students own learning. From KS3, students are given the opportunity to develop their lateral thinking skills in order to solve fairly broad problems. As they reach Key Stages 4 & 5 they are given more freedom to cultivate the knowledge of the environment they live in through investigating and analyzing topics of their own choosing. The end result is to hopefully allow them to understand how their role, and those of the professional designer, have and can continue to influence society in a positive manner.
English Department
Essentially, within the English Department at Doha College, we want to inspire a life-long love of learning, and are keen for students to enjoy their lessons. Conscious that language is power, we are keen that our students develop confidence to be articulate speakers, write elegantly and become passionate readers.
We encourage excellence in all things, and seek to fully prepare students for GCSE and AS/ A2 exams.
English Department :-Primary
The school follows the English curriculum, which is designed to offer children a language experience which combines oral language, reading and writing.
Language is crucial in the learning process. The children learn about language, and they also learn through language.
Geography Department
Geography offers the opportunity to study a broad spectrum of topics from learning about the most powerful forces on earth to the economic struggles of countries. The world we live in is likely to change more in the next 50 years than it has ever done before. Geography explains why this is and helps to prepare you for those changes.
ICT DEPARTMENT
Computers are widely used in all aspects of government, business, industry, education, leisure and the home. In this increasingly technological age, a study of Information and Communication Technology and particularly how computers are used in the solution of a variety of problems, is not only valuable to students, but also essential for their future careers. The courses taught in ICT are concerned with studying the underlying principles of problem solving using computers, the principle trends of current computer usage and the effect of ICT on society.
MATHEMATICS DEPARTMENT
In the Mathematics Department at Doha College we are keen to inspire a deep appreciation of the many aspects of the subject. As much as possible we link them to everyday life. It is important that our students develop a logical process to their problem solving skills and we encourage them to structure solutions in the most ordered fashion.
PHYSICAL EDUCATION DEPARTMENT
At Doha College we are dedicated to nurturing well-balanced and independent students who are also able to work together effectively as a team. Experiencing our PE Programme helps our students to learn to lead full and valuable lives through engaging in challenging activities, working both as individuals and as members of a team.
PSYCHOLOGY DEPARTMENT
Studying Psychology introduces students to a wide variety of research and contemporary issues reflecting the subject’s diverse influences from the Sciences and the Arts. Students are expected to think imaginatively and critically.
SCIENCE DEPARTMENT
The Science Faculty at Doha College offers Biology, Chemistry and Physics Advanced Level Modular courses. Pupils with a background in both Separate Sciences and Double Award Science are able and are encouraged to study Advanced Level Sciences at Doha College. We follow Edexcel International specifications. Each Department has a Subject Leader with direct responsibility for all aspects of their subject area.
