Application for Admission to Doha College

You should read, very carefully, the application procedure,  the fee regulations and the parent/guardian undertaking before submitting an application.  More information regarding Doha College Secondary can also be found in the Prospectus.

  • To complete your application online, please choose either the Secondary or Primary application as appropriate. 

  • If you prefer to send the application by FAX or post use the 'printer friendly application form' for either Secondary or Primary as appropriate. This requires Adobe Acrobat Reader ®.

  • If you are applying to join Year 10 you must also complete the Year 10 Options using the printable version available.  Please refer to the GCSE Options booklet for more information.

  • If you are planning to enter Year 12 or 13, you will also need to read the post-16 options information and complete either the  printable pdf or Printable Word Document options form.

  • Submission of an application means that you have read, understood and accept the fee regulations and the parent/guardian undertaking.

   

Application Procedure

Please complete the application form – this can be the ‘printer friendly’ version or the on-line form. 

 

The following items are also required:

  • A copy of the applicant’s most recent school report

  • A copy of the applicant’s passport

  • Two passport-size photographs (one will suffice if sent as a *.jpg file by email)

  • Educational Psychologist’s report – where relevant

  • A completed  immunization record (Primary School only)

  • Year 10 or Year 12 option forms where appropriate

 

Important Notice

Please ensure that your son’s/daughter’s residence permit is processed as quickly as possible and give a copy to Doha College. Possession of this document is a legal requirement for entry into full time education in Qatar.  Although it is acknowledged that the process does take some time, a student not holding a residence permit could eventually be excluded from school.

Entrance Tests

 

·     Applicants for Year Groups 1 to 11 are usually required to sit entrance assessment tests for entry to Doha College. The entrance test for Year Groups 1 to 4 consists of reading, writing and numerical ability tests. The entrance assessment for Year Groups 5 to 11 will be done using the CAT (Cognitive Ability Test). Year Group 5 and 6 will have to perform a writing assessment in addition to the CAT Test.

   

·     A non-refundable fee of QR200 is required for each applicant requiring entrance tests.

 

·     Applicants for Doha College Secondary may be required to attend an interview.  All applicants for Doha College Pre-School and Reception applicants will be required to attend an interview with a member of the Doha College Leadership Group. 

 

It is a condition of any offer of a place that parents/guardians have given the Doha College all information relevant to the application, including details of disciplinary and/or social problems.  Where it is discovered that information has been withheld, the offer of a place may be withdrawn and the student asked to leave the College.

Registration Fee is non refundable and will be charged for each child on first entry to the College including siblings of existing students.

If a student leaves the College and then returns at a later date a new Registration fee will be levied.

Once a place has been accepted, it must be confirmed by payment of a non-refundable Registration Fee and Advance Tuition Fee.

Tuition fees, which are inclusive of exercise books and paper as necessary and loan of standard textbooks, etc, are payable each term before the start of the term to which they apply.  There are no extra charges other than for breakages, loss or damage to books, and for materials for practical classes.

The capital charge of QR 3,000 is to be paid along with the first terms fees.

All external examination fees, as well as some extramural activities, are to be paid for by the parent.  Any enquiries about external examination fees should be made to the Examinations Officer.

FEE REGULATIONS (Subject to Change Without Notice)

 

 

 

 

 

 

1

All tuition fees along with the Capital Charge, which are billed in advance, must be paid prior to the commencement of the term to which they apply.  Fees not paid in full by the due date will be subject to a QAR 200.00 administration fee per child, for each month of part thereof, until fully paid.

Parents unable to pay the fees by the due date must contact the College Accounts Office before the first day of term and provide an explanation of their financial circumstances supported by adequate documentary evidence.  It is anticipated that only cases of severe financial hardship will be considered as valid reasons for delayed fee payment.

Fees may be paid by cheque or cash.  Cheques should be made payable to Doha College for secondary students and Doha College Primary for primary students.  Post-dated cheques beyond the first day of term will not be accepted.

Credit card facilities are available.  Contact the College Accounts Office for charges applicable on credit card payments.

Discounts are available for the third child and subsequent children in a family currently attending Doha College and / or Doha College Primary.  The discount will not be applied to fees paid after the due date nor is it applicable to the Capital Charge.

For the first child of a family accepted into Doha College and / or Doha College Primary, (with the exception of pre-school), a non-refundable registration fee of QAR 3,650.00 for Doha College and QAR 3,650.00 for Doha College Primary, must be paid.

For the second child and subsequent children in a family accepted into Doha College and / or Doha College Primary, an advance tuition fee of QAR 3,000.00 for Doha College, QAR 3,000.00 for Doha College Primary and QAR 3000.00 for pre-school, must be paid.  This will be offset against the first term’s fees.

Registration fee, advance tuition fee and Capital Charge will not, under any circumstances, be refunded.

The registration fee, advance tuition fee and Capital Charge will not be reduced or cancelled under any circumstances for new students starting after the commencement of term.

Fees for new students starting after half term may be calculated on a weekly basis.

No reduction is given to students who are on leave during term time.

 

 

12

No reduction is given to students who leave for good before the end of term.

 

 

13

Written notice of withdrawal of a student must be given at least five weeks before the end of the last academic term attended by the student (excluding holidays).  If no such notice is given, half a term’s fees will be payable in lieu of notice.

 

 

14

Students who are absent for a full term must pay a retainer fee of half a term’s fees for the term in which they are absent in order to retain their place on the student roll for the following term.

 

 

 

The Board of Governors regret that fees cannot be refunded.

 

 

 

Parent/Guardian Undertaking

In the event of a child being awarded a place at Doha College, parents /guardians undertake and agree that :-

1 All students shall be subject to the rules, regulations and discipline as laid down by the Board of Governors or its designated representatives.

2 Doha College is absolved from any responsibility for :-

• The loss of valuables.

• Accident or mishap occasioned by participating in a normal life risk activity, including but not confined to, organised sports, school trips, gymnastics, informal play, craft and practical work.

• The welfare and safety of the student outside the normal timetable day and / or in activities formally supervised by authorised members of staff of Doha College. This includes safe delivery and collection of students to and / or from the College.

• Any resulting accident or mishap should a student take unilateral action which is extra-curricular and without permission including, but not confined to, leaving the premises without permission.



Parents / Guardians understand that the College is a non-profit making institution administered by a Board of Governors whose members give their services voluntarily and without payment or remuneration of any kind. Parents / Guardians accordingly release and absolve the members of the Board from all personal liability in respect of the affairs of the College.
