Dear Parents
Ski Trip and International Award Visit Students
Whenever a group sets out I always have butterflies, despite all the preparation that takes so many hours to ensure nothing goes wrong. Generally things run well, but on the rare occasion something does not go to plan, I need as Principal confidence in the staff I have appointed to lead the visit, and for students to play their part maturely and cooperatively.
These two visits were different, but each was characterised by excellent student behaviour and high quality leadership by our staff. There was an accident right at the end of the ski visit, but everyone involved, students and staff, responded brilliantly and a potentially difficult situation was handled successfully. The International Award was in serious doubt after the train bomb explosion in India and a huge amount of planning occurred over half term to ensure our party’s safety. I know the students had a fantastic time and were truly superb in the way they rose to the challenges such an expedition is intended to face them with – as were the staff!
In brief, thank you for the part you played in ensuring that your son and daughter lived up in every respect to what we expect of Doha College students – they were a credit to you. And what can I say about my staff? In brief, that I am proud of their professionalism, compassion, and commitment to all our students.
On this occasion those who led the Ski and International Award visits were superb, and I congratulate them but the College has an excellent team of staff at every level which I feel very privileged to lead.
With Best Wishes.
John Lawson Principal
