25th April 2007
Dear Parents,
With the AS exams nearly upon us I am sure your son/daughter
is working hard with their revision programme. Your
son/daughter will have received their statement of entry and
final timetable. Please take the time to check through this
to ensure that you are fully aware of the dates of the
exams.
The time remaining in school from now until the start of the
exams is vital and it is extremely important that your
son/daughter is attending school. Teachers will be
conducting valuable revision sessions during this time. In
addition, once the exam leave has started a number of
departments will be offering extra revision classes until
the date of their exam. Should you wish your son/daughter to
study in school during the day we will be able to provide
additional study rooms.
For some students the exams will prove to be very demanding
and I would like to take the opportunity to remind you that
there certain entry criteria for returning to Doha College
in Year 13. These are taken from the Post 16 Contract:
• In order to progress into Year 13, you would be expected
to have achieved a grade D in at least two of your AS level
subjects. Failure to achieve this will lead to a formal
review
• All students will be expected to study three or four
subjects in Year 13, a minimum two of which will be at A2
• You will not be permitted to continue with a subject at A2
if you have not achieved a grade D at AS
As soon as the AS results are released in August I will be
available to discuss possible alternatives should your
son/daughter not reach the minimum grades.
Should you wish to discuss any aspect of the forthcoming
examination period please do not hesitate to contact me at
the school.
Yours truly,
Douglas Briggs
